March 2017 Edition of NASW's "Washington Update" Now Available

The Washington Update provides a monthly roundup of NASW national advocacy. Following are highlights from March 2017:
For Social Work Month, multiple social work bills and resolutions were introduced in Congress, including the bipartisan Social Worker Safety Act of 2017 (H.R. 1484).
NASW submitted comments to federal agencies on market stabilization and prevention of workplace violence.
NASW signed onto an amicus brief in support of a transgender student in Virginia.
Health Care Coalition Efforts
NASW participated in Provider ACA Roundtable meeting with Doctors for America and other provider organizations to discuss ACA mobilization efforts.
NASW participates in the Jimmo Implementation Council, which educates stakeholders about Jimmo v. Sebelius settlement.
Child Welfare Coalition Efforts
NASW signed on to First Focus Letter Urging Medicaid Eligibility to 26 for Young People Formerly in Foster Care.
NASW staff convened a committee of border state chapters to organize around immigration issues.
