The Texoma Branch’s Annual Awards Banquet was held on Tuesday, March 10, in Denton. The event was uplifting and enriching and full of social workers and social work students alike- which was very exciting.
The Master of Ceremonies was Seth Mobilio, the Region 3 Board Representative to NASW/Texas and the keynote speaker was NASW/Texas’ very own Miriam Nisenbaum, who delivered an inspiring presentation.
The Social Work Students of the Year, Sheree Phelps, from TWU, and Sara Ferguson, from UNT, shared information about the great work they have been doing in the community. The organization also recognized their Public Citizen of the Year, Joe Mulroy, for his accomplishments with the Citizens Council on Mental Health. Brandi Felderhoff was the deserving Social Worker of the Year. Lastly, Jackie Ward was honored with the Social Work, Lifetime Achievement award.
It was a fantastic evening spent with social workers celebrating achievements, relationships and possibilities. After all, social workers pave the way for change!
