HB 3999 Update

Colleen McKinney, NASW/Texas Mental Health Policy Fellow, recently provided testimony to the House Public Health Committee in support of HB 3999. The bill would require any job at a public or private agency offering social work services, as outlined in the Texas Occupations Code, to be staffed by a licensed social worker.  It would also apply to anyone providing social work services on a volunteer basis. The bill was left pending in committee and NASW/Texas’ legislative team is working hard to get it brought to vote.
