The NASW/Texas Conference Planning Committee welcomes submissions for presentations relevant to critical and emerging social work topics (education, practice, research, etc.) across the social work career span for the 2016 Annual State Conference. This year, there will be two submission tracks: Academic Juried and Standard Review.
Submissions should fall under one of the following areas:

Aging & Disabilities
Behavioral & Mental Health
Child, Family & Schools

Are You HIPAA Compliant?

Did you know that Texas law requires even private pay solo practitioners to follow HIPAA? Do you know that HIPAA training is required? Do you have a complete "HIPAA Compliance File” full of forms, policies and a current risk assessment?

If you didn't answer yes to these questions, you may not be in compliance with state and federal laws. Join NASW/Texas and Katie Malinski, LCSW, in Houston on February 26 for a 3-hour ethics presentation on what you need to know to get your HIPAA ducks in a row. (A second workshop will be held in Fort Worth on April 15.) Checklists and resources to be provided! More info >>here.<<

Two NASW/TX Members Named Social Work Pioneers

The NASW Foundation recently named NASW/Texas members, Captain Barry D. Adams, PhD, and Travis L. Peterson, LCSW, NASW Social Work Pioneers. NASW Pioneers are social workers who have explored new territories and built outposts for human services on many frontiers. Each has made an important contribution to the social work profession and to social policies through service, teaching, writing, research, program development, administration, or legislation. Dr. Adams and Mr. Peterson, who receives the award posthumously, were nominated by the Alamo Area Branch. Read their bios >>here.<<
