Understanding the "Dear Colleague Letter"

There has been some confusion as to the purpose and application of the “Dear Colleague” letter issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Education (DOE). Therefore, how sexual stereotyping covers discrimination against transgenders will be explained. Read more.

LCSWs in Texas Medicaid to Receive an Independent Listing

At long last, State Medicaid will correct the Fee for Service listing for LCSWs. Effective October 1, 2016, Licensed Clinical Social Workers in Texas will be removed from the the Durable Medical Equipment category and will have a separate listing, LCSW, just like the other behavioral health providers. While this may seem like an insignificant change, it is not. It is the result of many years of hard work by Former NASW/Texas Exective Vicki Hansen, LMSW-AP, ACSW and NASW/Texas Clinical Reimbursement Project Director Charlotte Cooper. This change wouldn't be possible without the support of NASW/Texas Member and State Representative Elliott Naishtat who promoted its passing through the legislature and to whom we give great thanks.
