Membership Challenge Kicks off Social Work Month

This year, we're kicking off Social Work Month with the 2018 Branch Membership Challenge, a friendly competition between branches of a similar membership size (small, medium and large) to see which one can recruit the most new members between March 1 and May 1, 2018. The branch in each category with the largest percentage of new members will win a complimentary registration to the 2018 State Conference to be awarded to a member in their branch. Winning branches will be announced by May 10. More info.

We Want to Hear Your Social Work Stories!

March is Social Work Month and the official theme will be, "Social Workers: Leaders. Advocates. Champions.”  Our profession is praised a lot but there’s still quite a bit of misunderstanding about what it is we do (besides the fact we all work for CPS, duh).
I thought I’d break down the facets of the Social Work Month theme and in response I’d love to hear your stories about just what makes you (or someone you know) such a great social worker.  Post them on our Facebook page or tweet them to our Twitter account, @NASWTX. Share with us why social work is so important in your community, who are some of the social workers you look up to, and ways our profession as empowered change.  Or any other social work stories–help show Texas why social workers are an integral part of the framework of our state! How to Promote the Profession this Social Work Month

Celebrated each March, National Professional Social Work Month is an opportunity for social workers across the country to turn the spotlight on the profession and highlight the important contributions they make to society. Wondering how you can help?

  • Share this video about how social workers help people overcome life’s challenges through your personal and professional social media outlets.
  • Write a letter to the editor of your local paper informing them of Social Work Month and the importance of social workers. See sample letter here.
  • Show your pride! Purchase a "Social Workers are Leaders, Advocates and Champions" t-shirt or other merchandise for yourself or a colleague. Visit the NASW Store.
