About the Presenters
Jess Riley, BSW
Jess received their BSW with a minor in Political Science in 2021 from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX. She is a community organizer with a background in grassroots campaigning, voter mobilization, and policy advocacy with a personal passion for housing, transportation and food access. As the Community Engagement Coordinator for the National Association of Social Worker - Texas Chapter (NASW-TX), Jessica work to connect social work students and practitioners to NASW legislative advocacy and professional development resources through strategic community organizing and membership recruitment. When Jess is not working, you can find them eating good food, laughing with friends, or on a hiking trail with her wiener dog, Bean.
Taylor Brewer Sambrano, MSSW
Taylor Brewer Sambrano is the Member Engagement & Communications Specialist with the National Association of Social Workers/ Texas Chapter. She has served in this role with the association for over four years. Taylor was born and raised in Austin, spending part of her time growing up outside of Houston. She graduated from Texas State University with a BSW degree in December 2019 and just graduated with a MSSW degree at UT Austin in May 2023. She was a legislative intern at the Texas State Capitol during the 86th Legislative Session, interned at the Texas Homeless Network for her BSW field placement, and did her final MSSW work-based field placement with NASW Texas during the 88th Legislative Session.
