Strategic Planning Committee

NASW Texas Strategic Planning Committee

The most recent strategic plan was drafted by NASW members and chapter staff and approved in 2020. A new group of members is needed to help guide and oversee its implementation in partnership with chapter staff. By joining a sub-committee focused on a particular area of the plan, you’ll get the chance to grow chapter membership and help devote resources to ideas that increase the power of social work across Texas. The committee is open to social work students and social workers in all areas, levels of experience and licensure.

Take a minute to check out the plan and learn about the sub-committees. Then fill out the form below and we’ll get back to you with next steps. Thank you!

If you’re not a member of NASW but would like to serve on a committee, please reach out to Will Francis to discuss your membership options.

Sub-committees

Advocacy Committee:

The Advocacy Committee seeks to defend and promote equality, social justice, inclusion and human rights. The committee seeks to achieve two goals: (1) to mobilize policy experts, organizations, members, and students; and (2) to strengthen partnerships between NASW branches, T-PACE, the NASW state office, policy experts and organizations. Our motto is from Maya Angelou, “If you don’t like something, change it!”

Branding Committee:

The Branding Committee seeks to increase the visibility of NASW/TX’s impact through the implementation of a dedicated brand strategy and communications plan. We aim to enhance brand trustworthiness and consistency; support membership, advocacy and education goals; and further distinguish NASW/TX as the go-to resource for Social Work excellence in Texas to members, potential members and the general public.

Membership and Leadership Engagement Committee:

The Membership and Leadership Engagement Committee seeks to recruit new members and retain current members. We use new strategies to attract students and young professionals. Importantly, we want to engage and help grow our current members!

Social Work Profession Committee:

The Social Work Profession Committee is focused on engaging and developing the professionalism of Social Work practice through collaboration and resource development across the state. The committee examines ways of cultivating best practices of NASW to foster leadership opportunities and promote membership engagement.
