Social Workers: Uplift. Defend. Transform.

The 2026 Social Work Month theme honors the core mission of the social work profession: promoting human well-being, meeting basic needs, and empowering people who are vulnerable, oppressed, or living in poverty. At a time of growing social, political, and economic division, social workers play a vital role on the front lines of change—supporting individuals and communities, protecting rights, and bringing people together to improve the welfare of all. Social workers serve in every corner of society, from schools and healthcare to child welfare, mental health, and government, and their impact is more important now than ever. Learn more about the theme and its rationale here.

How do you uplift, defend, or transform?

We invite you to share a short message or brief video highlighting how your work makes a difference in your community or workplace. Tell us: How does your work as a social worker help uplift, defend, or transform individuals, communities, or systems? Selected submissions will be featured in our Social Work Month campaign with your name and photo or video. All participants will be entered into a drawing to win FREE registration to the 50th Annual NASW-TX Conference in Galveston, a $300 value! (NASW membership required to participate.) Share your story now!
