Clinical Practitioners, join us to learn how to confidently navigate today’s complex practice landscape. We’ll examine emerging digital risks —including social media, telehealth, texting, and online boundaries — and top Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) complaint trends. Participants will gain practical strategies to protect client confidentiality, uphold ethical standards, and safeguard their practice, all while communicating expectations clearly to clients. Leave prepared to reduce complaints, strengthen professional integrity, and thrive in the modern clinical environment!
 

SESSION 1 (9:00 AM-Noon CT)

 

Risk Zones in Modern Clinical Practice: Social Media, Telehealth & Digital Boundaries

Presented by Dr. Kenshara Cravens, LMSW, LCDC(CI)

This 3-hour session explores emerging risk areas in modern behavioral health practice, including social media engagement, telehealth compliance, digital communication, and online reputation management. Participants will examine how evolving technology intersects with ethical standards and licensing board expectations. Practical strategies will be provided to strengthen digital boundaries, protect client confidentiality, and reduce complaint risk across practice settings.

  • Identify at least three ethical risks associated with social media and digital communication.
  • Describe documentation and consent requirements related to telehealth services.
  • Analyze boundary concerns related to texting, email, and online client engagement.
  • Apply practical strategies to reduce digital-related board complaints.

Complaint-Proofing Your Practice

Presented by Laurel Clement, Attorney, LPC 

In this 1.5 hour session, we will review the current complaint topics that BHEC is issuing and the top complaint issues that BHEC consistently encounters.

  • To better understand the expectations of BHEC
  • To better understand how to structure your clinical practice 
  • To better understand the issues to communicate to your clients about your practice 

 

This workshop offers 4.5 CEUs.

Meet the presenterS: Dr. Kenshara Cravens, LMSW, LCDC(CI) and Laurel Clement, Attorney, LPC

Dr. Kenshara Cravens-Knoxson is a licensed social worker, Professor of Practice, and Clinical Reimbursement Director for NASW Texas. With extensive experience navigating payer systems and mentoring social workers in both clinical and academic settings, she is committed to simplifying complex administrative processes for providers and organizations alike.

Laurel Clement
is an attorney and LPC-Supervisor that has practiced before the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners and BHEC for over fifteen (15) years. She gives monthly webinars on ethical and legal topics in our profession. Ms. Clement monitors BHEC's activities and is available to speak on the current ethical issues of our profession.
