Deven Murray

Deven Murray is an U.S. Army veteran and a Graduate Administrative Assistant (GAA) pursuing his Master of Social Work (MSW) at UT San Antonio, with an expected graduation in Spring 2026. His academic work focuses on public health, social support, and community-based interventions, with current research exploring fall prevention among blind or visually impaired older adults in San Antonio. He has contributed to projects on social determinants of health, diabetes, disability, and financial insecurity by focusing on mixed-methods research, systematic reviews, and translating findings into meaningful policy and practice. For his specialized field placement, Deven is excited to serve his second semester with the NASW Texas Chapter, where he will advance advocacy and professional development initiatives for social workers across the state. Beyond his academic and professional endeavors, Deven is the proud father of twin newborns, welcomed at the end of June 2025.
