Virginia Cantu

Virginia Cantu is the Manager of Administration with the National Association of Social Workers/ Texas Chapter. She has served in various capacities over her 25+ year tenure with the association. Virginia is originally from McAllen, TX and attended Pan American University. In 1999, Virginia moved to Austin and found her true calling working for NASW.  Virginia has been a constant source of support for members, solving problems big and small, often staying late, responding to urgent needs, and helping to create a chapter environment that feels welcoming and accessible to all. Virginia supports social workers across the state with generosity, kindness and enthusiasm, and is truly appreciated and beloved by all whom she comes in contact with.  Hundreds of members know her by name, and their gratitude speaks volumes about the impact of her work. Virginia is also the recipient of the 2024 Gilman-Wells Award by the Council of Chapter Executives (COCE).
