2025 Virtual NASW-TX State Conference
October 16–18, 2025 | Online
The NASW-TX Conference Planning Committee invites submissions for online presentations on critical and emerging social work topics (education, practice, research, etc.) spanning all career stages for the 2025 Virtual NASW-TX State Conference.
This year’s conference program will be fully virtual. Please note the following updated guidelines: - Proposals with a single presenter are strongly preferred. If a second presenter is essential, it will be considered, but priority goes to single-presenter submissions.
- Proposals for virtual sessions must be either one hour or two hours in length.
- Presenters must agree to have their session rebroadcast via the NASW-TX Online CE Institute and/or the NASW-TX website.
Submission deadline is Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 11:59pm. (2-5-25 Extended one week!)

SUBMISSION DETAILS Review Tracks: Academic Juried & Standard Review

Academic Juried Review
Intended for original research studies (exploratory, quasi-experimental, experimental), a submission in the Academic Juried Review track will receive a rigorous advanced academic review. It will be reviewed for ethical and methodological quality, contribution to social work knowledge and/or practice, as well as documented references and sources. This review process is designated primarily for academicians planning to include its acceptance on their academic vita.

Standard Review
A submission in the Standard Review track will be reviewed for relevance to current social work knowledge and/or practice, as well as documented references and sources. This review process is designed primarily for practitioners and other professionals who want to help build knowledge and skills within a specific level or area of practice.

Submission Evaluations
All submissions will be evaluated on the following:
- The title of the presentation.
- Three learning objectives.
- A brief 30-word summary that reiterates the learning objectives. The summary will be used on the conference website for marketing purposes, so creativity is welcome.
- A 300-500 word abstract that includes a description of the topic and purpose of the proposed presentation, as well as identification of the target audience.
- Citations and references, as applicable. (Include in abstract field, will not count against your abstract word count.)
Submission Requirements
- Proposals with a single presenter are strongly preferred. If a second presenter is imperative, it will be considered, but priority goes to single-presenter submissions.
- Proposals for virtual sessions must be either one hour or two hours in length.
- Presenters must agree to have their session rebroadcast via the NASW-TX Online CE Institute and/or the NASW-TX website. Presenters will be credited as content authors but will not receive compensation.
- Completed proposals shall be submitted through the NASW-TX online submission system only.
- Proposals must provide complete contact information for the presenter(s)–name including credentials, title, organization, email address, and NASW-TX member/non-member status.
- Each proposal must include:
- Up to 30 word summary for the conference website
- Minimum of three (3) clearly-stated learning objectives
- 300-500 word abstract (including source citations within text of abstract)
- Up to 50 word presenter bio, including name and credentials
- Submissions should fall under at least one of the following practice tracks: Administration & Management, Aging & End of Life, Behavioral & Mental Health, Children & Family, Disabilities, Health & Medical, Independent Clinical Practice, Macro Practice & Advocacy, School Social Work, Self-Care, Social Work Education, Students.
Criteria for Ethics Approval
At the direction of the NASW-TX Board of Directors, NASW-TX has developed guidelines regarding approval of ethics courses for social workers.
- The workshop must reflect a majority of the six ethical standards listed in the NASW Code of Ethics including Service, Social Justice, Dignity and Worth of the Person, Importance of Human Relationships, Integrity and Competence.
- Background of presenter should reflect competence in ethics training.
- Workshop must demonstrate relevance to social work practice.
- Workshop should allow time for discussion of implications for social work practice.
Criteria for Supervision Approval
At the direction of the NASW-TX Board of Directors, NASW-TX has developed guidelines regarding approval of supervision courses for social workers.
- The presentation must address one or more elements found in the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners supervision course content guidelines.
- The presentation should enhance recipient’s professional knowledge and skill about supervision so they can successfully engage supervisees.
- The presentation should have specific objectives that relate to supervision of social work supervisees.
- The presenter's bio should reflect competence in supervision.
Criteria for Cultural Competency Approval- Workshop must promote and/or support the implementation of cultural or linguistic competence at one or more of the intersecting levels: the individual, institutional, or societal.
- Background of presenter should reflect competence in the workshop topic.
- Workshop must enhance the delivery of services to people with varying cultural experiences associated with their race, ethnicity, gender, class, sexual orientation, religion, age, or disability [or other cultural factors.]

- A virtual session typically consists of a presenter using PowerPoint, followed by a 10–15 minute Q&A.
- Presenters must provide a session handout (e.g., PowerPoint or supplemental material).
- Presenters receive a significant registration discount; details will be in the presenter agreement.
- Please save the dates: October 16–18, 2025. All proposal authors are asked to block the full conference dates and accommodate their assigned presentation times.
- Acceptance notifications will be sent on/around June 6, 2025. Check your Spam folder if you don’t receive it.
