NASW-TX Raises Concerns About Research Targeting Trans Youth

NASW-TX is amplifying concern about a new "research study" called Adolescent and Young Adult Gender Dysphoria Outcomes Study (AYAGDOS). 

National Northwestern University is currently recruiting trans youth (ages 13-25) for the AYAGDOS. The study is being led by researchers who have a well documented history of work and associations that reject gender-affirming models of care and research that bolsters transphobic talking points. 

Lisa Littman, MD, MPH, who coined "rapid onset gender dysphoria" which is used to invalidate trans identity as a social contagion.

J. Michael Bailey, PhD, who promoted & popularized "autogynephilia", which is often used to invalidate and further pathologize mid-life MTF gender transition.

Kenneth Zucker, PhD, who created a type of conversion therapy for gender-diverse children.

Additionally, their partner organization, the Gender Dysphoria Institute, displays a library of publications which bolster transphobic talking points.
