The NASW-TX Conference Planning Committee seeks submissions for presentations relevant to critical and emerging social work topics (education, practice, research, etc.) across the social work career span for the 50th Annual NASW-TX State Conference.

Academic Juried Review
Intended for original research studies (exploratory, quasi-experimental, experimental), a submission in the Academic Juried Review track will receive a rigorous advanced academic review. It will be reviewed for ethical and methodological quality, contribution to social work knowledge and/or practice, as well as documented references and sources. This review process is designated primarily for academicians planning to include its acceptance on their academic vita.

Standard Review
A submission in the Standard Review track will be reviewed for relevance to current social work knowledge and/or practice, as well as documented references and sources. This review process is designed primarily for practitioners and other professionals who want to help build knowledge and skills within a specific level or area of practice.

Submission evaluations
All submissions will be evaluated on the following:
- The title of the presentation.
- Three learning objectives.
- A brief 30-word summary that supports the learning objectives for the conference website and mobile app.
- A 300-500 word abstract that includes a description of the topic and purpose the proposed presentation, including identification of the target audience and a description of the format. Please describe how time will be allotted to presenters, discussion, Q&A, etc., as applicable. Audience interactivity strongly encouraged.
- Citations and references, as applicable. (Include in abstract field, will not count against your abstract word count.)
Submission Requirements
- Completed proposals shall be submitted through the NASW-TX online submission system only. Presentations emailed or mailed to the NASW-TX Chapter Office will not be considered.
- Proposals submitted for the 50th Annual NASW-TX State Conference must provide complete contact information (name including credentials, title, organization, email address, and NASW-TX member/non-member status) for all presenters.
- Each proposal must include
- 30 word summary for the conference program,
- Minimum of three (3) clearly-stated learning objectives
- 300-500 word abstract (including source citations within text of abstract).
- A biographical paragraph for each presenter must be submitted for each proposal. Presenter’s credentials should be included in the biographical paragraph. Bios should be about 50 words per presenter.
- Submissions should fall under at least one of the following practice tracks: Administration & Management, Aging & End of Life, Behavioral & Mental Health, Children & Family, Health & Medical, Independent Clinical Practice, School Social Work, Self-Care, Social Justice & Advocacy, Social Work Education, Students.
Criteria for Ethics Approval
At the direction of the NASW-TX Board of Directors, NASW-TX has developed guidelines regarding approval of ethics courses for social workers.
- The workshop must reflect a majority of the six ethical standards listed in the NASW Code of Ethics including Service, Social Justice, Dignity and Worth of the Person, Importance of Human Relationships, Integrity and Competence.
- Background of presenter should reflect competence in ethics training.
- Workshop must demonstrate relevance to social work practice.
- Workshop should allow time for discussion of implications for social work practice.
Criteria for Supervision Approval
At the direction of the NASW-TX Board of Directors, NASW-TX has developed guidelines regarding approval of supervision courses for social workers.
- The presentation must address one or more elements found in the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners supervision course content guidelines.
- The presentation should enhance recipient’s professional knowledge and skill about supervision so they can successfully engage supervisees.
- The presentation should have specific objectives that relate to supervision of social work supervisees.
- The presenter's bio should reflect competence in supervision.
